City Ecologue Opening a Door

City Ecologue by Ed Roberson the novel written in poetical form, full of beautiful things, words all of them.  The verses historical scenes past and present seem appealing. The written poems is a selections of his talented, gift of writing which has racial ethnic bias.  You will encounter unpleasant situations readable in detail. Apparently these encounters he experience small events which often hard-to-prove, events which are covert, often unintentional occurred wherever people thought he was
(perceived) to be different. This is shown in the poem "Collections"

Every poem tells points of view of racism in America before cultural diversity in a constant eloquence of style.  It offers destructive feedback. In his poems people of color is portrayed negatively, devaluing the messages which can impair the joy of just reading a poem. He aims to communicate the challenge, struggle, destitute conditions of poverty, pain he had while living there, grief, and the commonplace experiences of America's Black people during the pre-Civil Rights Movement in many of his poems.  You would be astonished how he display this in words!

Each stanza in some of his poems they contribute around times and places, and the carefully thoughts to the city which he live during the period. You wonder. Was he 'either singled out, or overlooked, ignored, or otherwise discount"  as race is a issue with him.  It suggest the cause that manifested in his mind of being a black man.  You become captivated did it all happen in sequence that way?  What desire he actually experience, felt when it was all happening?

It's readable.  It's all about poverty, racism, prejudice, social injustice, social inequalities, preferring unfamiliar with the familiar of American cities.  It raises the question was past illegal discrimination a cultural phenomenon? Or was it purely a cry of social protest.  With that said was it to get along with our peers, friends or cooling one's heels to camouflaged victimize who we are.
I convinced.  He never seen  REAL day of "ghetto life" was the word back then, now it's "living in the hood", but nevertheless he personify the experience of it.  The rapture of America racism he writes out of his glorious, curiosity, polish experiences eventually deeply pains him.  His shared dreams totally undermined, by the white race how terrible he felt, physical being human suffering.  He wants a way-out; he cherishes answers to a physical dilemma.  Robertson disguises human obscene suffering: a classic of Black's social injustice treatment.

The book shows he was living modestly in a cruel world surrounded by being economically disadvantage.  He points to it in "Beauty Standing" chapter in the book, that he accepts it as white fault, not interstate commerce laws or other concepts.  The burdens he carry's which broaden this view is his book writes "For Colored Only.  A familiar statement of the Civil Rights Movement.  He references to other incident of being black in his book, but what Black America wanted was more rights, more social equality.  His identity is shaken, but he needed to prove he was an equal; not a signifying fool.

Personally, I felt the gift he has for writing is colored by old environmental issues, him portraying he felt inferior without reason or cause.  The updated Langston Hughes.  He is a excellent writer, but lacks connection outside of his world, an account of his life he made for himself when he was
writing these poems.  It's readable piece of material about the Black's men historical low-culture past, and we don't think of any future events that could happen, or could relate. His storytelling is effective.

The poems capture your heart.  It's visionary.  Will the "hero" overcome the obstacles standing is his past, path and eventually succeed?  That's what this book is about!

Natalie Goldberg, Writing Down the Bones, author call attention to Ann Arbor, Michigan, and State Street. State Street is a very crowded, busy business street in downtown Ann Arbor.  Her justification for living in Ann Arbor was a job.  It was functional.  With that said, the forewords author gives back the thoughts of the fundamentals of writing.  Now, you read Beginner's Mind, Pen and Paper coloring the same topics. You connect milestones of examples, important points of writing which you go after to practice writing, and eventually you will be said to be a excellent writer.   She believes anyone can write.  She states practice, and includes a list of specific topics of your choice.  She remarks of "monkey minds" a substitute idea for creatively writing down our thoughts. The novel reference the word several times, but she provide no answer for what is skywriting either?    Now, we go to the chapter on "Original Details".
In "Original Details" it corresponds with our assignments using details to express our inner-outer self.  As you read on , the chapter shows how adverbs and adjectives can be used properly to contribute to create artistic, powerful , commentary.
After reading Natalie Goldberg, Writing Down the Bones,   I personally resisted her writing because these chapters explains classic examples of instructions to writer complex grammatically written language.  Writing draws up communications on well written pages, which used correctly describes a novel or book.

Bird By Bird

"Bird By Bird" by Anne Lamott, this book has four parts.  Each part is broken down into ways a writer can

write a good story.  She goes from first drafts to publication. of your novel.  She doesn't explain how to write a fantasy novel, or mystery just the novel parts in all its parts.  The first few chapters are devoted to her family and her history of how she herself began a writer in the book trade business. But it shows her work in the field of writing.   She also explains her relationship with her literary agent  and publisher.  There we get insights in what to expect if we desire to be published  She tells it like it is and what we need to know from the inside out.  How to get there if you dare to publish your writing as a novel.  With all this advice in her book she does also offer that writing takes talents and skills that have be learned.    She explains by doing writing daily  and continuously we acquire the ability to write well.  These writing done daily will give us something worth publishing.   They will sell.  "Bird By Bird", I wanted to get it done out of the way of my other reading  and when I first began read the book  After reading the book the title I recall long after reading the novel in its entirety.    This novel lights the way to good writing and forming a great foundation of the writing trades.

Poetry Packet Assignment # 1

Poetry Packet Assignment # 1

For example, Shakespeare's Sonnet's the poem is a classic poem.  A lot of rhetoric views customary of

its time and era. Each verse explains love.  From, the poems we know about that time marriages of the

wealthy were all arranged by the bride and groom families.  So this is a poem invented by Shakespeare.

His great imagination expresses the love bestowed of a man and woman.  It's very poetic.

In contrast, Dim Lady by Harryette Mullen expresses the same poetic thoughts as Shakespeare

Sonnet's, but in a more Modern slang version poem.  The greater details used more prepositional phases of

many adjectives.  More words is used to make us feel the real scenes and emotions of the verse.  Dream

Cycle also written by her, we have a poem the child eye dream a ice cream truck on a long hot summer

day.  All so familiar to the early childhood when we enjoy summers as children. Great comparisons and

insights written from her childhood memories; the author poem capture the essence moments then and long

ago.  Noon by Cole Swenson does the same poem style as Harryette Mullen in his poems.  It uses more

style creatively.  When reading Langston Hughes we sense the oppression of the Slavery aftermath.  The

view of racism expressed by a black man of that historical era before Civil Rights took effect.  A different

style of poem than Shakespeare Sonnet's.  In Dream Boogie by Langston Hughes this poem expresses a

man ahead of his time because boogie-woogie originated in Blacks during the time of the Great Depression

era of American history shortly before that; it was better known in and around Harlem New York City

about World War I.  The sound of jazz was felt everywhere in the boogie-woogie, and lead by the

interpretations if the listener.  A very popular culture during that era..

Of all the poems in the poetry packet I personally prefer Preference by Langston Hughes.  It shows

depth of thinking about the subject of the poem, the social climate of that era invented.   It came before the

Civil Rights Movement in America.  Then, the black woman was not a protected class like as of today.  The

poem is a statement of fact what happening in the  everyday lives of black woman back during colored

women suffrage.
